The motherhood experience starts with pregnancy so do not forget that expectant mothers deserve to be celebrated and pampered on Mother’s Day too. A mum will never forget these nine months so we’ve put together a list of gift ideas to help make this first Mother’s Day a very special one! In our opinion, the best gifts for pregnant women are items that will make her life easier or the pregnancy experience a little more comfortable. Here are our suggestions for Mother’s Day gifts for pregnant women:
1. Pregnancy Massage
Prenatal massage is a great treatment for reducing the stress, discomfort and muscle tension that comes along with pregnancy. While a woman is pregnant it is best to use a specialist for this treatment as the body’s needs are different (and obviously while pregnant you can not lay down on a normal massage table!) There are pregnancy massage specialists all around the country so type “prenatal” or “pregnancy” massage into google or, if the gift is for one of our local Soon Mums, we recommend Nurtured Birth who operate just down the road from our Melbourne Soon Boutique! They even offer a mobile massage service if you can't make it to their Windsor therapy rooms.
2. Cool Mist Humidifier
Pregnancy will often congest expectant mothers so a humidifier can be a really helpful gift. We like a Cool Mist Humidifier which will also be great for the baby when it arrives as they too are very susceptible to congestion and dry skin. There are a wide variety of humidifiers but we love this Ultrasonic Cool Mist Air Humidifier from Kogan because of it’s nice natural wood finish.
3. Pampering Products
Your expectant mum is doing a lot of hard work right now! One of the best gifts you can give her is the ability to take some time to care for herself. You put together a little basket yourself, we recommend including a caffinated skin cream that she can rub on her belly to help prevent stretch marks, bath salts to soak her swollen feet and perhaps some sweet treats. 4. Mummy Magazine Subscription
A magazine subscription is the definition of a gift that keeps on giving! There are many options that will keep a new mum entertained but our favourite for keeping inspired while imparting valuable information for the modern mum is Mama Disrupt, available in a convenient quarterly subscription.
5. Robot Vaccum Cleaner
A common mothers day gift is to hire a cleaner so the house feels fresh and lovely but rather than getting a gift for the day, get mum-to-be a gift that ensures she doesn’t have to vaccum AT ALL while expecting! These little robot vaccums really are time savers and trust us, there is nothing you want to do less while pregnant than housework. We love the Xiaomi Robot S50 Vacuum Cleaner because it also has a mopping function so even less cleaning for us! Set this little guy up on a timer and let it do the work while the two of you go out and enjoy a nice mother’s day lunch.
6. 3D Sonogram
If you’re looking for something more sentimental for mum-to-be we love the idea of buying her a 3D sonogram so the two of you can see your unborn child in vivid detail. There are many places where you can go outside of the doctors office to have 3D sonograms done. They will give you a set amount of time and record the sonogram on video. Sometimes you can see them yawning, smiling or sucking their thumb, plus you get some memorable 3D pictures of your new baby!
7. Soon Gift Voucher
