We have just hit the last month of summer – that time of year when the weather starts to get unpredictable. One minute the sun is out and the next it’s cold and wet! It can be hard to know what to wear so we’ve compiled our go to pieces for mastering transeasonal dressing.
Transeasonal clothes are the perfect building blocks for the Autumn season ahead, plus you can wear these items again and again as they can be tweaked for both summer and winter outfits. Here are our top five recommendations to add to your wardrobe during this seasonal transition:
Invest in a Layering piece
Having pieces that layer up well is the number one transeasonal tip. The Frost Wool Vest is a great all-weather savior, wearing it with light pieces is key at this time of year and just add another long sleeve layer when the weather starts getting colder. We like to slip it over a shirt and pair with capri trousers for work or wear it with a t-shirt and jeans for a put-together weekend look.
Don’t put away the dresses just yet!
So many autumn days start out sunny but have that cold chill in the air. A dress with long sleeves is the perfect option for keeping the chill off if the wind picks up. We love the Hayden High Neck Dress in Geo Leopard (coming soon!!) because it has plenty of arm coverage and can be worn with tights in winter; but also has a cute and flirty hemline, letting you hold on to the feeling of summer for just a bit longer!
Feel Chic in Cigarette Trousers
A classic item for your year-round wardrobe is a cropped cigarette trouser. We love the Flora Skinny Capri because they are a great light-weight option if you need to wear trousers to work during the warmer months. They also look great paired with a blouse and ballet flats. Team with a blazer as the weather gets cooler. Tres chic!
Throw on a Cardi
A cardigan is your transeasonal must-have. It’s a quick and easy layer to throw on and off during this temperamental weather. Go for a short and lightweight option such as our Aspen Cardi that you can easily fold in your handbag ready to whip out if the weather takes a turn.
Try out a mid-season Midi Skirt
This is a handy wardrobe inclusion. Opt for either a stiff A-line shape or more of a soft flare such as our Brooklyn Crepe Skirt. The longer hemline works for those unpredictable days that are both cold and warm. Dress up this fashion-forward look with a high-neck blouse and stockings or dress down with a t-shirt or casual knit jumper on the weekend.
